Residents’ views/concerns:

The problem of the bridge closure remains a source of complaint and

inconvenience for residents. The planned reopening is on October 11th.

A resident of Burrow Hill complained about the number of for sale signs that

are erected at the entrance to Burrow Hill Lane. Mary will make enquiries

with local estate agents to see if the problem can be alleviated.

Action: Mary

Advertising for new chairperson

Following the sad death of Rona Taylor, the Residents’ Association is seeking

a new chairperson. Mary is to approach a contact but anyone else interested

should contact the committee.

AGM discussion

The AGM is scheduled for October 12th in the Village Hall. Refreshments will be

served at 7 and the meeting will begin at 7:30. It is a joint meeting with the Village

Hall and the school with representatives of both being present. Responsibilities on the

evening were discussed and allocated.

Update on and discussion of Residents’ Association initiatives and issues:

  • HS2 issues – the matter of the concrete sound barrier remains an

unresolved issue. The temporary Greenway is to be diverted and

closed from October 19th to November 23rd. Paddy will raise this at

the HS2 drop-in event on September 29th.

Action: Paddy

  • Greenway Trust – the Trust was also concerned about the

temporary closure of part of the Greenway.

  • William Davis Homes community support- Judi had attempted to

respond to this request without any feedback. It was agreed to leave

any further correspondence until we hear again from them.

  • Bugle – the latest edition of the Bugle was ready for distribution.

Thanks to Mary for her hard work in producing the newsletter.

  • Flower tubs – it was decided to plant up the tubs for a spring

display but then to discuss whether to continue with them. An issue

was raised regarding the fence on the Coronation verge which was

damaged by an overhanging hazel tree. HS2 had been advised and

were supposed to be addressing the issue.

  • Welcome leaflet update – Judi had incorporated all the

recommended changes. She was asked to print 25 copies to be

distributed with the Bugle to the William Davis development on

Westwood Heath Road.

  • Visit to Warwick Records Office – Janet and Judi had delivered the

old minute books as a gift to the County Records Office and the

curator was very pleased to receive them. In the future, the

electronic versions of the minutes taken since 2000 would also be

given to the Record Office in batches.

Action: Janet

  • Christmas tree//charity/cards/sleigh -Judi had contacted HS2 about

donation of a Christmas tree without response. Paddy suggested

contacting Charlie Weetman or we can revert to purchasing our

own tree along with new decorations which are required.

Faith will oversee the design of Christmas cards by the school

pupils to be ready for judging by November 20th. Book tokens will

be purchased to award to one winner in each age group and an

overall winner.

Action: Faith

Mary is in discussion regarding the Santa Sleigh.

Judi will email committee members to request suggestions for this

year’s charity to support.

Action: Judi

  • Lawn mowing on the verge

Jenny Jones has volunteered to mow the Coronation verge if she is

provided with a manual mower. The committee agreed to purchase

one for her. Judi will liaise with Jenny.

  • Moving the meeting to an afternoon

It was agreed to move to afternoon committee meetings during the

autumn and winter. The next meeting will be at 10am on

November 24th.

Parish Council Report

  • Paddy reported that three new Parish Councillors had been appointed

and Lucy Hatton had resigned. The P.C was seeking new quotes for

maintenance of the playing field. Solihull had agreed to inspect the

road surface of Hob Lane monthly. Decisions had to be made about

which HS2 structures (lamp posts, traffic lights etc) were to be

retained.

Any Other Business:

  • Many Greenway users were using roads on Burrow Hill for parking. It

was agreed there is a need for signs saying, “Residents’ parking only”

and direction signs to the car park off Green Leek Lane.

Action: Mary and Rob
